Air Cargo – When Did This Begin?

Air Cargo simply means the deliverance of lower and higher consignments from one place to another through air transport.
In November, 1910. A cargo containing silk was delivered between Dayton and Columbus, Ohio by an aircraft. This was the first ever shipment which was done by a Wright Model B aero plane.
This “first” air cargo has been commissioned by the client. The reason was to deliver Fast Cargo Service than it was delivered through ground transport.
When the entrepreneurs realized that air cargo can transport both higher volume and lower volume consignments much faster, this service grew rapidly during the 1920s.
The first all-cargo airlines emerged after World War II. 57 airlines formed an International Air Transport Association to organize air-freight services. The first air-cargo craft was launched by Boeing; the four engine 747. This aircraft revolutionized the freight industry after 1968.
Around 1990s, companies like FedEx, UPS, TNT and DHL started air freight services as full business. Most of the experts said that, a 15 to 20 tons of cargo is worth 30-40 passenger seats. Companies like Emirates took the benefit. What they did was clever. Emirates started transporting passengers as well as cargo at the same time; saving worth and profit respectively.
In this era, it takes 7 days or so to deliver the consignments internationally. Most of the time is spent under IATA clearance and custom forwarding clearance, says Pak Cargo in Manchester.
As the world has gone digital-genic. Companies have introduced more “tech-savvy” enhancement in their business like GPS tracking to keep track of the delivery. Customers are also given the preference to track their shipments for the satisfaction that the company is honest and they are not postponing the timeline and doing their best to provide the fastest services by air.
Freight industry is growing faster and faster because of the customer user interface that has been brought up through providing mobile platforms to customers to build a more friendly and strong relationship with clients. In the near future, you will see that cargo services will become a part of our lives in the lower volume consignment deliverance. Thus, we conclude this article here.
